Entry Kentry (Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme) | Easy Piano Sheet Music

Entry Kentry is a Mother Goose rhyme composed by Pennsylvania-born Andrew Fling. “Mother Goose rhymes” is a term that emerged around the later part the 18th or early 19th century and is used interchangeably with “nursery rhymes”. These are collections of traditional songs, chants, games, and poems intended for young children. Many argue, however, that they always seem to have hidden meanings behind them or allude to something else completely different from the topic of the rhyme.

The earliest recordings for these rhymes were done during the 16th century in English plays. Prior to that time, they were passed down purely through oral tradition, which made it necessary that the verses were short and/or easy to remember. The most popular rhymes seem to come from the 17th and 18th centuries with the publication of the first English compilation Tommy Thumb’s Song Book happening during that time.

Entry, kentry, cutry, corn,
Apple seed and apple thorn.
Wire, briar, limber lock,
Three geese in a flock.
